We are a friendly hockey club based at the Cow Roast, just between Berkhamsted and Tring. We run 5 mens teams and 4 ladies teams, covering all ages and abilities.

For the stars of the future, we have a packed youth section, split into various age ranges, training at various times.

The men play in the Eastern Counties league and the ladies play in the 5 Counties league.

These leagues comprise clubs spread across Hertfordshire and nearby parts of the neighbouring counties.

Our clubhouse and grounds are available for hire. See the Clubhouse Hire section or click the button below to send us a message.

A Spate for Kate leads to Goodwyn

The headline result saw a "Good Win" for the Ladies 3s (pictured) as they beat Potters Bar 8-2. The hero of the weekend was Kate Goodwyn who scored 5 of the goals!!
The others were scored by Emma Swords, Terraine Payton and Sophie Lawrance. Not surprisingly, Kate was also awarded player of the match. She would have been right to appeal if she wasn't.
Match Report

Well done to anyone who has Kate in their Fantasy Team.

The Mens 1 (pictured below) are making a habit of playing in tight games. This week they won 4-3 against promotion challengers Broxbourne in a cut and thrust match that could have gone eitherway. Berko are now level on points with Broxbourne in 2nd place in the league. It going to be an exciting season for the 1s. Match Report

The Ladies 1s had a great weekend. Winning games on both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday involved a tight 1-0 win against Blueharts at Meadowcroft with the goal coming from the trusty stick of Melissa Morton. Match Report
In a strange turn of events, the team then celebrated with Guinness world record attempt - how many hockey players can fit in Sarah Brydon's mini. I suspect this is a record!?

Then on Sunday, the Ladies 1’s played their 1st Round EH Vase game against Broxbourne. After full time the score was 1-1. And in the resulting penalty flicks, it was 2-2 after 5 and then Deb Walker stepped up and scored the winner. Match Report

The Ladies 2s (Pictured below) had a soggy afternoon, battling Blueharts. It may have been a 2-1 loss but they’re still smiling...bubbles and cake for Babs’ birthday may have helped! The scoreline doesn’t do these warriors justice. Our goal was scored by Charlie Nash. Match Report

In what's been a tough season for the Men’s 2s, (Pictured below) they do seem to be competing well and lost by the narrowest margin on Saturday - 3-2 to Winchmore Hill. It could have been 3-3 but our 3rd goal was sadly disallowed. It sounds like a stunning goal from Joel Withey in the 2nd half. Match Report

The Ladies 4s had the tough 4.30pm game away at Bedford. They lost 4-0 sadly but played with lots of energy and should be congratulated for keeping going. Match Report

Our thoughts go out to the Men's 4s who are truly having a difficult season. This week they lost 9-0 against Rickmansworth 2s. Congratulations to Jim Carlile and his team for keeping going!! Match Report

The Men's 5s had a walkover win against Southgate Adelaide 3s. A welcome 5-0 win and some useful points!

That leaves the Men's 3s who sadly lost 5-1 against Bishop Stortford. A better team and a very pleasant game.

We have a full set of fixtures on Saturday so if you haven't done so already please give Roger or Jo a shout with your availability...

How are you doing as a player? If you've entered a team into the Fantasy League, how is your team getting on?

This week’s Fantasy League has seen a fair few changes especially after “a few” goals were shipped across the Mens’ section and the Ladies once again had a good weekend overall.
This week’s Manager of the Month is Debbie Walker, whose “Walker’s Warriers”, (after a poor week 4) have climbed 7 places and back into the Top 10. Your free drink awaits you at the bar next weekend!

Santa Sleigh Collection

OK, so it may be a bit on the early side to be getting ready for Christmas but I know that Santa Sleigh is becoming something of an annual ritual for many club families.

This event has raised literally hundreds of pounds for our club as well as local good causes and all it takes is 6 to 8 club members spending a couple of hours escorting Santa through the streets of Berko.

Its great fun, a good way to get in the festive mood and an opportunity for a few drinks to warm up after.

Date : Thursday 20th December

Time : 6-8pm

Route : tbc

Let Nick Cave know if you can spend a couple of hours with Santa.
