It was yet again another cold and drizzly Saturday when Berkhamsted Ladies 2s were up against 4th in the league, Bishop Stortford.
The ladies came out full of energy pushing hard. Within the first 10 minutes Deb passed a strategic ball to the left of the D where Terri easily picked it up, had a strike at goal and we were 1-0 up. Spirits running high the team kept up the intensity but unfortunately a lone player was able to score against us to bring the equaliser. Berkhamsted came back running with some great tackles and using triangles from Mari, Charlie and Lauren. This led to a short corner being awarded. Clare succeeding in converting it to a goal, the ladies started to see a win in sight. However, yet again the opposition managed to equalise the score just before half time. The half time talk came with encouraging words from Lana and Steph who were spectating. Terri prepared the team and we were ready for the second half. For the last 20 minutes our Berkhamsted team played well, with some textbook defending our defence stood their ground. Forwards and midfield working well also had some excellent runs up and down the pitch adding to Berkhamsted’s strong presence. Scoring the winning goal from a short corner was Bunni who had played well consistently throughout the game. Massive congratulations ladies for our win!!
