The ladies 2's arrived at Hatfield to play against Welwyn. The wind was so strong that we were able to create a new team member stuck to the fence, who unfortunately turn out to be pretty poor at hockey.

The start of the game saw lots of end to end action as players tried to get used to the bounce of the pitch and the fact that we couldn't see through our hair or hear each other due to the strength of the wind!
We worked hard as a team passing well from defence through mid field to the forwards and creating a number of shots on goal, which were saved. Just before half time the ball was passed to Emma on the left wing , who turned it up a gear and whizzed forwards arriving at the circle and shooting. Her shot was deflected by the keeper but landed beside Hannah who sent it back towards the goal where Emma was waiting to finish off. We were 1-0  up as the half time whistle was sounded.
Shortly after half time we won a free hit just outside the circle that was taken quickly by Ellie who crossed it strongly, the ball deflected off Charlie's stick straight into the goal - 2-0.
Now we knuckled down to keep the lead and despite Welwyn throwing all they had at us we worked as a team to keep them out and ended the match with a 2-0 win.
This was a true team performance which was shown by the votes for MOM that were spread across 8 team members. There were votes for Emma, Mari, Deb, Lauren, Ann, Zoe and Hannah, with the winner being Annamarie for outstanding defensive play.
