If last week's game showed us anything it was how well the team could play in the hail and the pouring rain. Unfortunately this week the weather was overcast, but not sufficiently extreme to bring out the performance we needed to beat a vary capable St Albans.

The game started with some good sparring between the teams and in the early stages Berko created more of the chances. Tom's running on the right was particularly noteworthy, as was Paul's build-up play. Despite this, St Albans managed to score from each of their two attacks and the balance of the game started to change, with Berko finding it hard to hold enough possession in the midfield and under mounting pressure from a St Albans team that was growing in confidence. 0-2 at half time.
Berko stuck with the game plan and continued to press high, but St Albans were able to still find enough men behind the ball to play out of their defence with confidence.
We welcomed Jon to the team and he made an excellent debut, showing great commitment by even heading the ball forward on one occasion. Kieron also took a ball in the "lower stomach area" and did well to make it to the side lines from such a painful impact.
Overall, the performance was strong and we kept battling to the end, but the second half saw another couple of St Albans goals and at the end of the day we were beaten by the better team. Back to winning ways next week, I am sure!
