Berkhamsted 4^th XI v Camberley 4^th XI

Camberley arrived at this fixture with only 9 outfield players, so Berkhamsted lent them a goalkeeper and another player to even up the sides numerically.

Berkhamsted then found that the evenness was limited to the number of players as Camberley proved stronger in the tackle and better passers of the ball and made the Berkhamsted defence work hard. Camberley scored twice in the first half whilst Berkhamsted were finding it difficult to mount any serious attacks of their own. A half-time reshuffle saw Berkhamsted come back into the game putting the Camberley defence under some pressure, but unfortunately for them Camberley proved just as adept at scoring in this situation and scored 3 further goals. Berkhamsted continued to have a decent share of possession and were rewarded when Nick Cave’s pass found Brian de Mattos in the D and his pass was converted by Tim Buckley at the second attempt after a good save by on-loan goalie Dave Newey. The scoreline was perhaps a bit harsh on the home side but without doubt the better side won an enjoyable game.
