British Airways v Berkhamsted 4th XI
Berkhamsted took on British Airways on a damp but entirely playable grass pitch under the flightpath at Heathrow. The first half contained few chances for either side although Berkhamsted had the ball in the net it was via a foot.
Both sides looked to create more attacking opportunities in the second half and BA opened the scoring from a deflected short corner. BA quickly added a second and it was beginning to look as if Berkhamsted’s good approach play was to be wasted. However the game changed its complexion when Ian Peplow seized on a loose ball in the D to pull one back. Shortly afterwards Nick Cave got away down the right and his cross was again turned in by Ian Peplow. Berkhamsted then launched an all out assault on the BA goal to try to get a winner, but were caught on the break and BA were only prevented from scoring by a foot on the line. The resultant penalty was expertly put away for BA to regain their lead and Berkhamsted rather lost their composure giving the ball away too easily which resulted in two further BA goals in he last few minutes.
