The roadworks on the M25 played their part in Berkhamsted 4th XI’s game at Bracknell on Saturday. Two players were delayed getting to the match, including the goalkeeper and Berkhamsted had to start with 9 players.
Despite this disadvantage, Berkhamsted had plenty of the ball and the Bracknell keeper had to make a good save to keep out an effort from Brian de Mattos. Bracknell also had some chances and Mike Whitaker cleared one of the line, however, just as the goalkeeper arrived, Bracknell did manage to open the scoring. Once up to 11 players, Berkhamsted increased the pressure and dominated the rest of the half without managing to score. Bracknell made some changes at half time and the balance of play was more even although Berkhamsted managed to fluff a couple of gilt-edged chances. Bracknell also had periods of pressure and Dave Hargreaves, now recovered from his journey, made some good saves. Berkhamsted pressed to the end but could not get the breakthrough that their overall play had deserved. Result Bracknell 1 Berkhamsted 0 |
