Berkhamsted made the long trip to Camberley for a Thames Valley Conference match against the host’s 4th XI. Berkhamsted started brightly and Gerry Montague found Brian de Mattos on the right wing and his cross was turned in by Jim Watson at the second attempt having hit the post with his first effort.
Shortly afterwards Pete Allam received the ball from a long corner, worked his way into the D and scored with a fine shot into the corner of the net. Berkhamsted, however, did not maintain this momentum and Camberley came back into the game winning a couple of short corners and having plenty of possession without threatening the goal too much. Berkhamsted started the second half very poorly and seemed unable to clear their lines for about 10 minutes of Camberley pressure. However the defence stood firm and with Dave Hargreaves achieving his 3rd consecutive clean sheet, Berkhamsted broke out and Pete Allam claimed two more goals, the first a solo effort past several defenders and the second after good work in midfield from Dave Wright and Alex Hardwicke.
