Berkhamsted 3rd Xi 6 West Herts 6th XI 1 Berkhamsted 3rd XI continued their current good run with an ultimately convincing win over West Herts. After starting well Berkhamsted missed a number of chances and this was looking as if it might prove expensive as West Herts worked themselves back into the game.
However, in the latter stages of the first half Berkhamsted took control as Jim Watson re-directed a wayward shot from Tim Westley and then scored again from a mishit clearance. Berkhamsted took more time to get going in the second half but even so Steve Thie as kicking back was largely unemployed. Berkhamsted scored their third from a move down the right wing which was converted by Simon Barron and then Jim Watson completed his hat trick with a smart finish. Brian de Mattos added a fifth at the near post from a Simon Barron cross before a bit of complacency at the back led to a deserved consolation goal for West Herts. Finally a well –worked move through the middle saw Brian de Mattos and Tim Westley set up Jim Watson for a run at the goalkeeper and he duly scored his fourth with a good finish into the corner.
