Berkhamsted 5xi 1 BA 7

11 finally made it to Teddington yesterday, although John Baxter had problems with his GBS and arrived late. Probably he had been looking for a replacement for ZAK who had damaged himself playing football, silly game.

Anyway in the absence of Campbell, we tried a new forward formation with Namo as centre forward and Pete Moore as high astro drifter. Drifting they both did, to such an extent that the call bring back Campbell was heard from the spectators. These were two Berkhamsted players, Elsworth and Allen, who contrived to get themselves injured, so they could shelter from the howling wind and driving rain. Teddington had graciously provided two substitutes. Peter (what an excellent name) who scored the Berkhamsted goal, although Namo claims an assist, and Sam who showed us fine skills at full back. The match thundered backwards and forwards in the Berkhamsted half, and they let in the last three goals in the final 15 minutes, as many players tired, with the forwards totally statuesque. Pete Matthews had a great game at right back, and Monty showed brilliant goalie skills. But the best part of the game was the Angler pub afterwards which served Harvey's Sussex bitter. Result, we lost 7 - 1.
