Berkahmsted 2xi 6 Blue Harts 4xi 2 At last I find myself with a good reason for not reporting the 2xi goal scorers' names - there were too many goals to keep track of.
Following a disappointing run everything came together when we met Blue Harts this week. Seymour did an excellent job up front in holding up the ball, feeding it to fellow forwards and gaining the advantage at every opportunity. Payton regained his killer instinct punishing Blue Harts for errors in the shooting circle. After last week's ten man debacle we fielded two substitutes to keep the legs fresh up front, taking full advantage of hockey's rolling substitution rule. The defence were resolute - last weeks trainee keeper was back where he belonged on the pitch, making life awkward for the Blue Harts forward line. Special guest from the 3xi Hollows stepped into the left back position and frustrated many a venture down the Blue Harts right wing with is 100% commitment to every tackle. Fido was dragged once more from his luncheon engagement, I mean retirement from league hockey, to keep goal though he was rarely called upon as everything was working out great on the pitch. Dubenski marked the centre forward out of the game, leaving them with few options when they did make it into the Berkhamsted 25 yard area. A short lapse into the bad ways gave Blue Harts two quick goals but in general Berkhamsted had the upper hand throughout. A sterling effort and one to be repeated please as the season continues. |
