BHHHC Mixed Hockey Festival 21 - 23 May 2010

This year we are limiting the number of teams to just 12, so please do express your interest to attend ASAP by filling out the attached entry form and posting it back to us with an entry cheque payable to BHHHC for £100. Places will be filled on a first come first served basis.

The total cost per team is just £100, so less than a tenner each for a great weekend of beer, hockey, beer, food, beer and entertainment!

Format

As always, the emphasis will be on having fun. Lots of drinking will occasionally be interrupted by having to run around on the hockey pitch…having said that the standard of hockey is always reasonable. This year we are running 2 leagues of 6 teams, with the top 3 of each league playing off to battle it out for the top 6 overall positions.

Games will start at 10:00hrs both mornings…each team will play 4 league games on the Saturday, and then 1 league game and all the finals will take place on Sunday. The last game on the Sunday will be done and dusted by lunchtime, giving everyone plenty of time to have another beer and then get home in time for Heartbeat.

We encourage people to bring tents and camp over throughout the duration of the Festival, as this adds greatly to the atmosphere. There is plenty of camping space as well as shower and toilet facilities available at all times.

The bar will be open from 18:00hrs on Friday 21st May so come along then and let’s get the weekend off to a fine start. If you can’t make it until Saturday morning, please do ensure you get there in plenty of time to register and pay the balance of your entry fee, and be ready to play at 10:00hrs in case you are the first game on!

There is also lots of car parking and this will all be clearly signposted as you arrive. Please only park in the designated areas so we don’t fall out with the neighbours or breach any health and safety regs. If you have any questions as you arrive, there will be plenty of people on hand to assist.

There will be the usual healthy breakfast of bacon sarnies and coffees on sale from 08:30hrs Saturday and Sunday mornings, as well as food throughout the day and evening. Music will be playing all day long and there will be a disco in the clubhouse on the Saturday evening. The bar will be open for as long as licensing hours permit on Fri, Sat and Sun, and we respectfully ask that you only consume drinks in the bar that were purchased from there.

The Official Bit

  • Matches will be conducted under the normal rules of outdoor hockey with the exception of extension of play for a penalty corner. All matches end when the foghorn sounds.
  • Penalty strokes may still be completed after the fog horn sounds.
  • Each team must have 5 male and 5 female outfield players with a goal keeper of either sex, unless agreed beforehand by both captains.
  • Each team must play with a goalkeeper wearing at least a helmet and a shirt of a different colour to both teams. In the event of a colour clash the second named team has to change.
  • Matches are 25 minutes one way and centrally timed. A foghorn will signal the start and end of each match. There will be a 5 minute break between matches.
  • The first named team will take the centre pass and provide the match ball
  • The second named team will choose ends
  • Each team is responsible for providing one umpire for the match. The umpire need not be from the team.
  • Missed matches will be awarded as a 3-0 to the team that turns up.
  • Any team not on the pitch when the foghorn sounds to start the game will forfeit the game, unless the opposition agrees to continue with it
  • Captains must report the match results to the Festival Desk when the match is finished
  • There will be 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and a point for every goal scored.
  • If there is any dispute the Festival Committee’s decision is final
