First game of the season so we expect to be rusty but nobody expected 2 early misses from the usually trustworthy Payton Snr.
Completely open goals is a fair shout and both were missed with aplomb. (and a few choice words).

‘Gotta miss em to score em’!

With a full squad it’s hard to find a rhythm but rhythm we found and the resulting short corner was mopped up by Silver. 1 - 0.
The rest is a bit of a blur to be frank.
Will and Liz umpired well and managed to ignore the chatty Bedford defence, some of it not very nice ‘chat’ I have to say but, similarly to the end of last year the 2’s Lions roared on the pitch but not at the umpires.
No sendings off for Berko worth a mention so that’s also a great result.
Royston squeaked a lucky goal after some sloppy mopping up after a breakdown of their short corner drill. 1- 1.
Some fine play around the outside leading to well worked goal finished by Baxter, just back from Uni 2 - 1. Great result, pity he didn’t score the first!

Below did his usual solid, calm and efficient work, confidently supporting the four man defence.
He will be missed hugely when he goes of to Uni on Tuesday. Probably as you’re reading this!

The goals came thick and fast and as a result of some great team play so in no particular order:
Paytons 3 between them, Goodwyn 2, Whitby, Baxter and Silver 1 each.

Hugo if proving to be a better leader than we could have hoped for and his trusty Arron knit cardigan is fast becoming as ubiquitous In 2’s circles, as the Rocky Savage red and white striped jumper. (They also have similar curly whirly hair)!

Promotion this year is his goal and I wouldn’t put it past and his 2’s lions achieving that.
