Jon Broomfield

1 - 0 win away from home

The boys traveled down to a hazy and nippy Amersham . The sweet smell of an incoming victory was in the air.

They turn up and all Ben can think about is seeing [redacted] in the shower later - he's buzzing. But more to come of that later... After a quick game of defensive cricket in the changing room, the boys were eager to put into practice Luke Frey's defensive skills onto the hockey pitch.

We started strong and applied pressure early to Amersham, but they soaked it up well. Moving the ball quickly through the lines, Berkhamsted eventually made the break through they deserved. Cooper, whilst suffering from a nose bleed, magically appeared at the top of the D. The 6 foot 6 unit moved the ball through multiple defenders with prowess unheard of within the Edwards lineage.

A well placed smash towards the back left post. A nimble Luke Frey gets an excellent touch into the bottom left corner putting the mighty BHHHC 1-0 up.

(large amounts of game missed by the match report which were largely even with chances to both sides)

Later (15 mins to go in the second half), an ariel into the D by A&C was converted to a flick after Ollie Loader wondered aimlessly into the receiver's space leaving the team outraged and concerned.

Young Miles vs the only other player younger than him on the pitch. A smart use of psychological warfare in the form of asking the flicker for his views on a US tiktok ban successfully threw him off his game, it was blazed over the bar.

Still 1-0, 15 to go. Rearguard enaged.

The remainder of the match played out as though it were in slow motion. Umpires decisions became increasingly more concerning as it seemed all decisions were going against us, tensions rose amongst both sides as each teams defences were tested time and time again.

Players drew weary as we approached the final minutes of the match only to hear the sweet sound of victory as the full time whistle blew. A well fought 1-0 win. The team were ecstatic. A well earned pint and potato along side the thought of the inbound bingo night made for a Saturday to be remembered.

Well done lads.
