On Saturday BHHHC hosted league leaders Bicester in a closely matched game.
The first half started with a high tempo, both sides having chances. Miles made some great saves to keep us in it early doors, including denying Bicester an opener from a short corner, pushing it over the bar.
Chances for Berko included a skilful run from Luke into the D followed by a quick reverse shot - just over the bar.
Bicester took advantage of a miss timed pass from the defence, and tucked away the opener in what was a very even game so far. A very similar situation led Bicester to lead 2-0 at half time.
The second half saw Berko really come into the game, having much more of the ball and taking the game to the opposition. A number of short corners were won by Berko, but conversion rates from shorts haven’t been the strongest this season. This was until Nills then sent a short corner into the Bicester goal, and the game was back on. 2-1.
The end of the second half saw more of the high tempo and physical hockey Berko have become used to this season, and were unlucky to not have tucked a second home.
With little time to go Tom was shown a red card, which left Berko to see out the remaining minutes with 10 men. (Tom may or may not have written the match report and therefore doesn't want to dwell on it)
More chances were created but again, we were unlucky to not have taken them.
Full time 2-1. A truly great effort for Berko against the league leaders.
