Match Report: Berkhamsted 2s vs Oxford 4s
Venue: Cow Roast
Final Score: Berkhamsted 2s 2 – 1 Oxford 4s

On a blustery afternoon at Cow Roast, Berkhamsted 2s took on Oxford 4s in what turned out to be a scrappy but hard-fought encounter. From the first whistle, neither side was able to find any real rhythm, with the game dominated by turnovers and midfield battles.

Berkhamsted, however, managed to impose themselves physically, with some uncompromising defending from Pete Allam and Jason Silver setting the tone. Their tackles were firm, fair (mostly), and left Oxford in no doubt that goals would have to be earned the hard way.

Midway through the first half, Berkhamsted broke the deadlock via a well-worked short corner. Pete Allam stepped up and dispatched it clinically to make it 1–0 — a lead they held going into the break.

Oxford came out sharper in the second half, catching Berkhamsted cold with an early equaliser to level the score at 1–1. The game continued in the same disjointed fashion, with both sides struggling to maintain possession for long spells. When Oxford did manage to test the defence, Tim French was outstanding in goal, pulling off several reflex saves that ultimately earned him Man of the Match.

Berkhamsted restored their lead midway through the second half when James Barron found himself in the right place at the right time to slot home and make it 2–1. As the game wound down, tensions simmered — and a brief moment of finger-wagging dissent from Barron towards the umpire saw him rewarded with a Dick of the Day green card.

Despite the patchy play and stop-start flow, Berkhamsted showed grit and determination to grind out the result. It wasn’t pretty, but it was effective — and the 2–1 win keeps morale high heading into next week.

Scorers: Pete Allam (PC), James Barron
Man of the Match: Tim French (goalkeeper)
Dick of the Day: James Barron (for finger wagging at the umpire)
