The ladies 3’s had worked their way through the first half of the league and were back at the start, facing a Bedford team just below us. Knowing that a win would keep us at the top of the table, but also that we had lost the close fought battle at the beginning of the season, losing 4-3.
We started quickly with some quick balls from Emily, putting Kate, Lynsey and Ann through with the help of Anna, Helen and Sarah. After some consistent pressure and a cross ball from Emily, Anna got us off the mark. When we did lose the ball, the defence were able to clear up and get the ball back up the field with some lovely passing hockey. Another ball across the D and a bit of ping pong saw Ann Baxter score. We went into half time 2-0, but knew we needed to keep up the pressure.
The second half started much the same as the first with a some end to end hockey, with the ball being cleared up by the defence and was worked up the field. This time Helen took the ball into the D, passing the ball into Kate G, who finished it off. After a bit more end to end hockey Helen again had the ball on the right, took it into the D and with a firm strike, scored our 4th goal. Sammie made some great saves, including a last ditch sliding effort to keep a clean sheet

Player of the match was a very close affair with 1 vote each for Suzy, Annamarie and Emma and a 5 way tie on 2 votes each between Bunni, Anna F (surf), Anna F (turf), Helen and Sammie
