Despite the arctic conditions at the Bedford Sports & Hockey Centre, the squad turned up ready to turn the heat up on the pitch. We all played incredibly well, shaking off the frost to put in a shift that was as solid as the frozen ground.
The game kicked off with Bedford looking like they’d had an extra shot of espresso, dominating the early play and keeping us on our toes. However, the momentum shifted faster than a hockey ball on wet turf. Before long, the tables turned and it became a 50-50, end-to-end sprint.
We came agonizingly close to breaking the deadlock several times. Tash delivered a shot that had "goal" written all over it, only for the post to cruelly intervene. Not to be outdone in the drama department, Annabel and Katie almost snatched a winner right at the whistle, keeping the tension high until the very last second.
In a game where every single person on the pitch played their heart out, the "Lady of the Match" honors ended in a prestigious three-way tie. Ali, Katie B, and Annabel all shared the glory for their standout performances. It was a hard-fought 0-0 draw that felt far more explosive than the scoreline suggests.
