With the first hints of spring in the air on Saturday morning, both teams arrived ready for battle against Stevenage.
Up front, Anna, Kate, Tabitha and Lucy caused constant problems for the defence with some brilliant runs and skill. In midfield, Emma, Jess, Abby and Charley kept the tempo high, covering every inch of the pitch and driving the team forward. At the back, captain Jo, Katherine and Sophie formed a solid defensive wall, stopping attacks before they even reached the circle.
Behind them, goalkeeper Matilda had a quieter, and slightly colder, morning than most, but after weeks of hard work between the posts she probably deserved the break.
Our team secured a brilliant 10–0 win, the perfect birthday celebration for Captain Jo and Jess. After several strong performances where the scoreline didn’t quite reflect the play, everything finally clicked. The energy across the pitch was fantastic and it felt like weeks of resilience and practice had truly paid off.
A special shoutout to Jess, named Lady of the Match, and to the whole L4s, who look like they’re finally starting to blossom this spring.
