On an incredibly wet and cold Sunday morning Berkhamsted hosted an U12 Girls tournament against teams from St Albans , Harpenden and Aylesbury in a round robin tournament of 7 aside games.

The girls were eager to clock up the goals from the first whistle. There was lots of energy across the pitch to keep Harpenden at bay. The goal came from a hard cross into the D from super centre half Maisy Harding with a tap in at the post by a lightning Lucy Krafft. First game in the bag. Onto their next game against Aylesbury. Beth Girling and Isla Jameson were busy bees up front to dribble around players, create space and lots of chances on goal. Another hard fought game but it was victory for Berko with goals from Maisy and Lucy.

It was a tough third game against the St Albans Blue but our defenders were not letting anyone through. A focused Iris Burke put in many well timed tackles. Lauren Kerr was composed in defence, passing the ball out wide to cousin Elsie Fasher on the wing. The cousins worked well together to keep possession for the Berkhamsted team. It was end to end stuff with a superb flick from Maisy Harding to put Berkhamsted ahead. Hetty French pulled off save after save to keep her team ahead with superb clearance kicks to put Berkhamsted back on the attack. St Albans broke through the midfield in the last minute to produce an equaliser .

The girls needed to win their last game against St Albans Yellow if they were to win the tournament. Elsie Fasher was determined to come away with the victory with many driving runs, ripping up the midfield to pepper the keeper. She showed no signs of tired legs. It was the the Berko girls superior passing ability that wore down the opposition in end. The goals came from Elsie and Maisy to seal the win and for the team to be crowned tournament Champions!
