The U14 Boys faced 5 matches in the tournament and as there are so many of us now, which is brilliant, plus games were only 10 minutes one way, we went with one match on and one match off to support, which worked well. Archie, Tom, Henry, Adam, Alex, Thomas L, Elliot all playing defence: Benji, Noah, George, Owen, AJ, Will playing forwards. Playing against Blue Herts B1 the boys got off to a bit of a sluggish start but found their groove and narrowly missed two goals, so unfortunately it was 0-0 but they really came together and played well. Next match against Blue Herts C saw them concede one goal and they fought back valiantly but it wasn't to be, again narrowly missing two goals. Fuelled up with Jelly Babies (yum) and back with something to prove they won the third match against St Albans 2-0 but it was a draw 0-0 against Blue Herts B2 and a tragic defeat against Broxbourne 2-0 who it has be said, had a cracking young lad striking the ball so hard that even Archie, our stalwart goalie, was pushed to his limit. It was fantastic to see the team really begin to gel and support each other and the progress they have made is obvious, with some players never having done tournaments until this season. Man of the match to George, out there on the LW, always ready and waiting for the ball, tenacious and quick, thank you George. Also to mention Adam who really fought for that ball, ran on to players and who has improved so much; and Elliot who didn't let it go, chased after the ball and has also progressed. Truly well done to each and every one of the team. Some hard losses to take, and yes, some improvement needed and some game tactics to learn but a really great Sunday morning and pleasure to be with them all.
