After 30 odd years playing Pistons at their Southgate home, we were able to extend an Home invite to our new Astro. In a tightly fought game of two halves it ended a creditable and reasonable 3-3 draw. 2 goals for Barron (one after 45 seconds that must’ve worried the Pistons boys were they not such an exceptional side), and a PF for Prowse rocketed into the roof of the net and simply unstoppable. The pistons keeper saved about 5 dead cert goals with agility and athleticism and this was matched by Berko’s keeper Walker who was more dogged and stoic than agile and athletic but with the same result! Dubenski made a cameo role on his 60’th Birthday not touching the ball but checking swathes of the pitch for chewing gum and muddy footprints. Fine team performance with notable contributions from new recruit Farnfield, Johnson, Savages, and Webb.
We are due for another Home game on 2nd of August so if you’re not playing summer grass, it’s a really good watch, come on down.
